	Employment Opportunity Machine Tool Operator Overview Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools, including CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, to machine metal workpieces (component parts) on a production basis. Set up machine tool to produce parts specified by supervisor, production order, and/or blueprint. Loads, operates, and unloads machine tool. Inspect and reject parts. Clean machine. Machine special parts as assigned. Assist and train inexperienced Machine Tool Operators. Duties Operates single spindle drill presses, radial drills, gang drills, engine lathes, turret lathes, automatic lathes, milling machines, screw machines, cylindrical grinder and specially designed, modified, or configured machine tools. Skills & Experience Education: High School Diploma or GED Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic math skills and calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Other: Understanding of computers for receiving, downloading, and saving programs Must have basic understanding of machining API tapered and ACME threads Must be familiar with gauging threads Must have basic understanding of inserts/cutters such as size, grade, shape, and their radius designation, along with their proper use Physical Requirements: Very Frequently – Standing and walking Frequently – Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear Regularly – lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Occasionally – sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. Must lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus Experience: 1 – 2 years related experience and/or training in an industrial setting.
